IHMC CELEBRATES THIRD YEAR WITH ISLAMIC FINANCE THEME

Islamic History Month Canada emerged on the Canadian multicultural scene just three years ago as a long-dreamed-of intercultural and educational project, created by Canadian Muslims for all Canadians. It has now become an annual and eagerly anticipated reality across the country to build bridges of understanding, mutual discovery and appreciation between Muslims and all other Canadians.

In the third year of Islamic History Month Canada, we will again devote this special month of October to celebrating and sharing the diversity of Muslim civilization, both past and present - including our contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, architecture, humanities, music, spirituality, and every area of human knowledge and endeavour.

This year's timely theme focuses on Islamic finance and economic theory, and how a different philosophy of creating, managing and distributing wealth could heal, or even prevent, major global recessions. Our guest speaker is Dr. Toby Birch, Managing Director of Birch Assets Ltd. in Guernsey UK. Dr. Birch will visit Toronto, London (Ont.), Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Vancouver, where he will speak on ISLAMIC FINANCE: ISLAMIC SOLUTIONS FOR THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS.
