Dr. Amery is a 3rd generation Canadian and father of 2 children. He isan active community volunteer having served on many committees andprofessional organizations including fundraising co-chair for aCalgary non-profit organization, director and vice-chair for theMuslim Council of Calgary, special advisor to the National Council onCanada Arab Relations, as a representative for an International Aidorganization, as a board member to a Calgary Charter School, as wellas a board member for the Committee for Race Relations as well as afounding member and past CEO of Ittihad Securities, to name a few.

Hussein has also served in several capacities with Denturist Societyof Alberta acting as a provincial examiner and director, and as aninstructor emeritus, vice-chair and Fellow of the Canadian Academy ofDenturism. He is currently editor-in-chief of a national dentaljournal as well as an Instructor at George Brown College in Toronto inthe International Denturists Educators program.

Dr. Amery is a practicing denturist in Calgary as well as a consultingpsychologist to a renowned pain clinic outside Atlanta, Georgia. Hehas researched and written 2 Doctoral theses on geriatrics and haswritten a paper for the Calgary Board of Education on youth violenceand diversity. He was a past featured speaker at the University ofCalgary at an International Human Rights Day program and was awardedthe Alberta Civil Liberties Research Council’s Civil Liberties Awardin 2005 for his continuous contributions to community.
